Purchasing SuperInvoice

How do I get my hands on SuperInvoice?

SuperInvoice is available as a commercial product distributed by folks better equipped to handle digital delivery. We find that our time and energies are best spent developing our products and have no shame in a 3rd party handling the distribution, especially when they know what they are doing.

t.o.p.

Can I use SuperInvoice on a non-US server? Or, Does SuperInvoice support non-US Currencies and/or Locales?

Absolutely! SuperInvoice can be used on virtually any Windows server meeting the minimum requirements. By default, SuperInvoice will display all Currency and Date/Time using your server's locale settings. We have clients across the globe (especially in the European countries) using SuperInvoice without a problem.

The only time we've found SuperInvoice not to display the Currency and Date/Time based on your chosen locale is when the related language pack is not installed on the server. You would then need to request that your host installs the appropriate language pack.

If you need help determining your server's locale, then review the How do I determine my server's locale FAQ.

Installing SuperInvoice

Um, where are the installation docs?

The installation docs will be in the root of your site, SuperInvoice_install.htm, as soon as you unzip the zip file you downloaded when you purchased SuperInvoice. If for some reason you are unable to find them, we've placed a copy over here for your reference:

Common Installation Errors

A'ight ya bums! I've done everything you told me, but I am unable to log in and/or am receiving an error! Help!

Well, the first thing to do is stop calling us a bunch a bums ;-)

Your installation woes may be as easy to troubleshoot as a common spelling error in your connSuperInvoice.asp connections file, to something as problematic as corrupted files.

Before you try anything else:

  1. Review the installation instructions provided when you downloaded SuperInvoice and make sure you followed them exactly as outlined.
  2. If you are still having problems, then try re-uploading all your files including the database. Yes, we understand this is a pain, but believe us when we say the large majority of problems occur because the FTP program used to upload the files somehow managed to mangle and corrupt the files.

If the problems persist due to something we instructed you to do, you may relentlessly chastise and tease us for being morons. But, please review the other common installation errors first :) If all else fails, feel free to drop us a line through any of our support channels.

I do not know the physical path to my database folder. What should I do?

There are a couple of avenues that will most likely help you out. The easiest avenue is to ask your host to give you the 'Physical Path to my Database Folder'

Another avenue is to download this zip file. Here's what you're going to do with the file:

  1. Unzip it to the root of your site, i.e., the same directory as your home page.
  2. Upload the file to your server and then view the page in your browser.
    1. For example, if your home page is located at:
      http://www.<YourSite.com>/default.asp
    2. Then the page should be found at:
      http://www.<YourSite.com>/n3_FindMe.asp

If you are still having problems finding the physical path to your database folder, please contact our support.

What modifications do I need to make to format my currency and date/time to Non-US standards?

Setting up SuperInvoice to work with non-US currency and date/time is relatively easy. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when entering numeric values. Let's look at Dutch v. US numeric values:

Fairly simple, huh? Just enter your values without commas (,) and use a period (.) for decimal points and you'll be fine. How 'bout another example:

In Summary, don't worry about any of the thousandths separators, the currency formatting routine of SuperInvoice will take care of that automatically based on your Server's locale setting. Does that make sense?

Now, you may also need to make a slight modification to the global constants file so the date picker functions properly for your date/time type. Again, let's look at Dutch v. US Date Formatting:

If your date format is the same as the Dutch example, then follow these instructions for changing the date picker:

  1. Open the following file: /n3/SuperInvoice/n3_assets/includes/_inc_global_constants.asp
  2. On approximately line 18 you need to change:
    Const conCalDateFormat = "mm/dd/yyyy"
    to:
    Const conCalDateFormat = "dd/mm/yyyy"
  3. You can also change the language of the date picker calendar to Spanish or German - should be self explanatory as the constant is just below the calendar format constant.

You should now be all set to use your server's locale for Currency and Date/Time formatting.

How do I determine my Server's Locale?

If you don't know what your server's local is, then download this zip file. Here's what you're going to do with the file:

  1. Unzip it to the root of your site, i.e., the same directory as your home page.
  2. Upload the file to your server and then view the page in your browser.
    1. For example, if your home page is located at:
      http://www.<YourSite.com>/default.asp
    2. Then the page should be found at:
      http://www.<YourSite.com>/n3_FindMe.asp
  3. Go to the "Find My Locale Information" and review your locale:
    1. The Session.LCID will tell you what language your server is trying to use.
    2. The GetLocale() will tell you what language is the default for your server.
  4. Then go compare the locale ID's on your server to the locales at the Microsoft website.

Common FAQ's

Why is my browser trying to download an ASP file? OR Why does my browser display the ASP code?

This usually means:

  1. Your host does not support ASP (Active Server Pages)
  2. Your server has not been configured correctly.

Contact your host and make sure they support ASP.

t.o.p.

Why do I get an "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error"?

An HTTP 500 error usually means that there has been a problem running the script or connecting to the database.

If you are using Internet Explorer you may have to turn off "Friendly HTTP Error Messages" before you will get any useful information. To do this:

  1. go to Tools
  2. Internet Options
  3. click the Advanced Tab
  4. Uncheck the "Show Friendly HTTP Error Messages" option.

You should now receive a more descriptive error message which will help you better troubleshoot the problem.

If you still are unable to understand the problem, please contact our support.

t.o.p.

Why do I get an "Operation must use an updateable query" error when trying to use SuperInvoice?

This is a common HTTP 500 error encountered when setting up an Access Database. All it means is the folder you have uploaded the SuperInvoice database to does not have the proper read/write permissions.

Double check that you have uploaded the database your host set up specifically for databases. Sometimes hosts forget to give your database folder the proper permissions and this may be the case as well. Contact your host and verify your database folder has read/write permissions to modify the database.
